On January 1, 2025, Sunflower Bible Church was launched to serve the growing community of west Olathe with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As the tenth successful church plant of our sending church, Journey Bible Church, we are excited to carry on their legacy of sharing God’s Word in the Kansas City metro area. Our journey began with a small, resilient team worshiping in office spaces, warehouses, and even a public school before moving into our own chapel—a charming building that has been part of Olathe since the 1970s.

Sunflower Bible Church is a non-denominational community that welcomes everyone seeking to explore or deepen their understanding of God’s Word. Grounded in Scripture, we aim to apply biblical teachings in practical ways, striving not just to hear God’s Word but to live it out in our community. Through intentional discipleship and a welcoming environment, we focus on fostering spiritual growth and meaningful relationships with God and others.

We are also committed to outreach and missions, partnering with initiatives like Olathe public schools, church planting in India, and pastoral training in Ethiopia. Believing in sowing abundantly, 20% of every dollar given to our general fund supports local and global mission efforts. Our mission is simple yet profound: to faithfully shine the light of Jesus Christ for the glory of God in a fading world through sowing, growing, and praying together.
